July 25 - 26 1st Annual Chamber of Commerce Non Profit Expo at Fun Expedition

July 26th 2008 Veterans Picnic (Suicide Prevention)

Ed Jefferies participated in a picnic for Veterans sponsored by the Suicide Prevention group. He made Coalition information along with information on prescription drugs. There were 38 people present, although the event was interupted by a sudden downpour. Thanks Ed!

Thanks to Terry Hardin who helped connect us to this opportunity. We will do it again in August.Thanks to Tom from TN Board of Probation and Parole, Natalie from Dept of Children's Services, Pheobe from JC Library, Neil from Frontier Health, Licia Mecurio from CASA /VISTA, and Heatherly and company from the Wash Co. Health Department. However, many of the adults got quite a break because Sheri Cooper and the Youth Leadership representatives from LEAPS did the hard work passing out hotdogs and information.

THANKS TO ALL THE YOUTH: Shai, Aime, Caleb, Rick, Zoe, Taylor, Brittany, Raven, Blake, Amanda, Dustin, Ryan, Tylyn, & Justin. They helped regsiter youth for prizes with the FOP, they meeted, greeted and handed out literature at the gate, and they handed out hotdogs and water. There were lots of compliments on how they conducted themselves (of course). Once again... they have represented us well.

We gave away...

206 hotdogs and

216 waters to

126 adults

69 youth TOTAL 195

579 was the attendance at the game

400 people got SOMETHING from us including

300 bracelets (either a red Drug Free bracelet or prevention bracelet "be smart don't start")

50 Key Chains (don't drink and drive)

8 T-shirts,

8 back packs, etc and over

300 peices of literature on Steriods, Tobacco, Keeping kids drug free, Magnolia Ridge, etc.

Other Meetings and Outreach

Inv. Greg Norris (JCPD) to discuss department alcohol and drug statistics, planning.

Bill Flanary (Wash Co Schools) to discuss program at Boone, and connecting youth with Leadership opportunities (twice)

Roger Jackson (Boone HS Principal) to discuss program at Boone.

Terry Hardin (JCPD) about FOP night at the ball park

Adam Slaughter (Boone HS Teacher) Outreached to us at Baseball game about how he could help his student
